Dear Sister,
Let me say something right at the start, and I want you to hear it in your spirit: you are not behind, you are not overlooked, and you are not finished.
If you are a believing woman over 50, this letter is for you. Maybe your children are grown. Maybe the house is quieter than it used to be. Maybe you have caught yourself wondering, "Does anyone still need what I have to offer?"
Sweet sister, the answer is a resounding yes. And today I want to tell you why.
You Are Carrying a Library
Think about everything you have lived through. The seasons of joy and the seasons of grief. The prayers you whispered at the kitchen sink. The bills you somehow stretched, the children you raised, the marriages, friendships, and careers you navigated. The mornings you did not know how you would get through the day, and then you did, because God carried you.
That is not just "life experience." That is wisdom, and it cannot be bought, borrowed, or rushed.
The world is full of loud voices, but it is hungry for women who have been through the fire and can say, with steady confidence, "I know the One who brought me through." A young mother who is overwhelmed needs to hear from you. A woman starting over after a loss needs to hear from you. A granddaughter, a neighbor, a woman in the pew behind you, someone out there is quietly waiting for the very thing you know.
Scripture honors this season. Titus 2 speaks of older women teaching what is good. Psalm 92:14 reminds us that the righteous "still bear fruit in old age; they stay fresh and green." Notice that it does not say they used to bear fruit. It says they still do.
Your Faith Has Been Tested, and It Has Held
When you were 25, faith may have been something you believed. At 50, 60, 70 and beyond, faith is something you have lived. You have watched God keep promises in ways you never expected. You have seen Him provide when the numbers did not add up. You have felt His peace in rooms where there was no earthly reason to be at peace.
That tested, seasoned faith is a gift. Do not tuck it away because you think it is "too ordinary" or that nobody wants to hear it. Your testimony is proof that God is faithful, and proof is powerful.
He Sees You. Right Now. Just as You Are.
Here is the part I most want to settle deep in your heart.
In a culture that celebrates youth, it is easy to feel invisible after a certain age. Maybe you have felt it at the store, online, or even in places where you expected to be valued. But hear me, sister: you have never been invisible to God.
He is your Father, and to Him you are still His little girl. Not a number. Not a demographic. His child. The same God who numbered the hairs on your head (Luke 12:7) knows exactly where you are today, what you are carrying, what you are hoping for, and what you are afraid to say out loud.
And He does not care only about the "spiritual" parts of your life. He cares about every single aspect of it:
- Your health and your energy
- Your finances and your future
- Your relationships, including the ones that ache
- Your dreams, including the ones you thought you had to let go
- The ordinary Tuesday worries that no one else knows about
He is not too busy for any of it. Psalm 139 says He knows when you sit and when you rise. Isaiah 46:4 promises that even to your old age and gray hairs, "I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you."
He made you. He sees you. He will carry you. That settles it.
This Is Not the End of Your Story. It Is a Fresh Start.
Some women believe the best chapters are behind them. I believe, and Scripture backs me up, that God is never finished with His daughters. Sarah laughed at the promise in her old age, and God kept it anyway. Anna the prophetess was in her eighties when she served faithfully in the temple and was among the first to proclaim who Jesus was. Age did not disqualify them. It prepared them.
So ask yourself, gently and honestly:
- What do I know that someone else needs to hear?
- What has God brought me through that I could share?
- What dream have I set on a shelf that He may be inviting me to pick back up?
You do not have to do everything. You only have to take the next faithful step. Maybe that is starting a conversation, mentoring one woman, writing down your story, or finally stepping into that thing God has been stirring in your heart. Small and obedient is still powerful.
For me, one of those faithful steps was joining The Home Business Academy, a community that feels like real family and gives to children who are hungry. If you are curious, watch this short video about the heart of HBA, or read my Start Here guide to see what it is all about.
Stand Bold, Grounded, and Unashamed
I will say it plainly: your age is not a limitation. It is your qualification.
You have the knowledge. You have the faith. You have the testimony. And most of all, you have a Father who loves you, sees you, and delights in you, today and every day.
So lift your head, sister. Wisdom without apology. Faith without apology. You, without apology.
The world is waiting for what only you can give.
A Prayer for You
Father, thank You for the woman reading this right now. Thank You that she is seen, known, and deeply loved by You. Remind her that her years are not wasted and her voice still matters. Give her the courage to share the wisdom You have poured into her, and the peace to rest in Your care for every detail of her life. Renew her hope and show her the next step. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Let's Talk, Sister
I would love to hear from you. What is one thing God has taught you that you wish every woman knew? Share it in the comments below. Your words may be exactly what another sister needs today.
Until next time, walk boldly and know you are loved.
With love,
Sharon
